Read-only by design: how QuantStep connects to an account

14 August 2026 · 4 min read

Connecting an account to QuantStep grants one thing: the ability to read performance data. Positions, sizes, timestamps, balances, the equity curve. That is the whole of it.

What a connection cannot do

  • Place, modify or close an order.
  • Move, withdraw or transfer funds.
  • Change account settings, leverage or risk limits.
  • Hold credentials that would allow any of the above.

QuantStep does not hold, receive, route, pool or manage client money at any point. Where capital is allocated, it moves between the trader and the allocating firm, on that firm's infrastructure, under an agreement we are not party to.

Why it is built this way

Partly because it is the right boundary for a business that introduces rather than allocates. Partly because it limits what any failure of ours could ever reach: a read-only connection that is compromised exposes history, not capital.

Leaving

Disconnect an account at any time and data stops arriving immediately. Ask us and we delete the history too, unless we have to keep enough of it to evidence a verification already issued. Introductions work the same way: they are given per firm, and withdrawn the same way.

Written by QuantStep. Nothing here is investment advice, and verification is not an offer of capital — see the risk disclosure.
