Where trading jobs actually get posted

5 August 2026 · 4 min read

The roles worth having at trading firms are usually advertised in exactly one place: the firm's own careers page. They are seldom syndicated, seldom promoted, and often filled before a general job board notices them.

Why the firms behave this way

Hiring volume is low and the cost of a bad hire is high, so firms optimise for precision rather than reach. A posting that produces four suitable applicants is a success; one that produces four hundred applications is a tax on the team.

What the board does about it

QuantStep aggregates those postings into one place and links straight back to the firm's own page. We do not rehost descriptions, we do not receive applications, and we are not a recruiter — listing a firm is not a partnership or an endorsement in either direction.

It is also the most honest route into this industry we can offer someone whose record is not yet long enough to interest an allocator: a seat at a firm is a way to build the measured history that eventually is.
